ORGANISATIONAL PROFILE:   Human Welfare Association (HWA):

HWA has registered in 1991 to address the need of the vulnerable Dalits, OBC and Minority community and most disadvantage section of society  at Varanasi rural area and surrounding districts with focus to women and children.   HWA is registered under society’s registration act 1860, FCRA, Govt. Of INDIA, Section 80G and 12A under Income Tax Department.

VISION:

A peaceful, discrimination, exploitation free sustainable society where there is a all sense of respect, dignity, quality, self esteem, service and participation with women and children where there is equal opportunity with the provision of social political, economic and cultural rights with eco-friendly, dignified living.

MISSION:

HWA aims to organize and empower the most disadvantaged sections of society for sustainable and comprehensive development leading to improved quality of living.

 Working experience and implemented various projects at grass root level with international donor agencies NOVIB – The Netherland; TdH Germany; IGSSS New Delhi; CRS – USCC – USA; DFID -Find Your Feet-UK; SIFPSA – USAID; UNCTAD; UNICEF; Global Fund For Children – USA;  GoodWeave; Rajeev Gandhi Foundation – New Delhi; Sir Dorab Ji Tata Trust – Mumbai;  and  Govt. of India – Rashtriya Mahila Kosh, Ministry of HRD, Ministry of Textile for AHVY project (Livelihood promotion of Handicraft Artisans), Ministry of Commerce through Textile Committee and,  Ministry of Labour(NCLP), The Hans Foundation – New Delhi

Involved in the implementation of various programs through community participation and  Organized several workshops, training programs, on the issue of Child Rights, Quality education in the Schools, School Sanitation Hygiene Education, Education To Sustainability, Child Labor & Child Trafficking issues, Vocational Training initiatives with girls, Women Economic Empowerment. IPR – GI registration of Banaras Brocades and Sarees, Handmade Carpet of Bhadohi, Champa Silk Saree and Fabric, Handloom mark , Gender issues, Communal harmony, Involved in the Advocacy  on Child Rights,  Basic Education, Handloom, Handicraft, Weavers, Artisans,  Women Empowerment and Future Energy.

The Organization General Secretary – Dr. Rajani Kant has interacted with Prof. Amartya Sen – Noble Prize winner,  President of India – Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, ,  Dr. Manmohan Singh (Prime Minister of India) , Director General, WTO, Mr. Pascal Lamy, UNCTAD Secretry General –Dr. Supachai,  Ambassador of Philippines to India –  Mrs. Laura Quiambao Del Rosario, President-Asian Development Bank, Director General – Asian Development Bank, Dy. Chairman-Planning Commission, India;  President of FICCI; Finance Minister of Indonesia; President of Maxico and various International dignatories, Ministers of Central & State Govt. of India on developmental issues at policy level in various programe.

 Gender Policy : The organization has Female & Male social worker Both are working without any caste, gender, religion and area discrimination. Organization is providing all the facilities related to the female workers according to the need and maternity related facilities. Organization has own CASH (Complain Against Sexual Harrasment) committee according to the Supreme Court rulling with five members. The organization is also promoting female staff as a leader in various capacity building program and providing equal opportunity and equal wages in all the projects and programmes and involved in women empowerment program in a very systematic manner. At this time more than 55% female are working in the HWA.

All the project staff including Director is working in Human Welfare Association only as a full time staff, and getting salary / honorarium only from this organization. Nobody is working as employee in any other organization or institution.

 The organization, Human Welfare Association, General Secretary Dr.Rajani Kant has participated in International Programs in Abroad:

  • Study Tour to Indonesia, Bali and Singapore under the Technical Cooperation Training Programme “To Study Credit and Micro Enterprise Development from 20 August to 2 Sept., 2000 sponsored by The British Council and Govt. of   INDIA, Ministry of HRD, in the field of Self-Help Groups.
  • Rural tourism as micro entrepreneurship development for the livelihood of rural women” international workshops organize by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of Israel from 29th August to 22nd September 2005 at HAIFA, Israel. Participated as India Representative.
  • Participated in International conference on Child Rights, Child participation at Katmandu, Nepal with the 2 children from community (as North India Representative) organizes by Save the Children Sweden from 6 to 9 June, 2006.
  • Participated in International conference on India-Turkey-CIS Business Forum – August 24-25, 2010 Istanbul, Turkey and India Pavilion in Izmir International Fair – August 27-September 5, 2010 Izmir.
  • Participated as a Speaker in the World Future Energy Summit 2012 (WFES) at Abu Dhabi from 16 – 19 January,2012
  •  Participated as a Speaker in the Asian Development Bank – Annual Meet at India – Greater Noida from 2-5 May, 2013

Latest Awards:  

  1. Three young girls from HWA-Education project are winner of IBN-7 Real Hero Award 2012 (24th March, 2012 at Mumbai.
  2. Hindustan Times Special Women Award to the HWA supported project women Self Help Group leader Ms.Raman Devi, 70 Yrs. on 31st March, 2012.
  3. HWA Mahila Shakti Project has awarded Vodafone Mobile for Goods – mBillionth Award – South Asia 2012 on 21st July, 2012 at New Delhi.
  1. Ms.Sheela Devi, Ms. Vijay Laxmi and Ms. Guduna Devi has awarded by Hindustan Times  Women Award – Certificate of Appreciation in 2013 . All are associated with this organization since many years and working at grass-root level.
